Alternative access to higher education

Fair and objective selection of international applicants with TestAS

In several federal states, such as Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia, legal foundations have been laid for alternative routes into higher education. This opens up new opportunities, especially for international applicants.

The German Rectors' Conference (HRK) recommends the TestAS study aptitude test for fair and accurate selection. The TestAS, which was developed specifically for admission to undergraduate programmes in Germany, reliably measures study aptitude. It combines a core module with a subject-specific module, enabling well-founded decisions to be made in subject-related selection and admission procedures.

Benefits of TestAS for universities

  • Objective comparability: TestAS enables universities to make a direct comparison and assessment of the academic abilities of prospective students, regardless of differences in educational systems.
  • Quality assurance: By using TestAS, universities are able to improve their selection of suitable prospective students and thus increase the quality of their student body.
  • Reduction in dropout rates: The targeted selection of suitable prospective students helps to reduce dropout rates and increase academic success.
  • Prediction of academic performance: TestAS results are an excellent predictor of academic performance.
  • Flexibility in the admission procedure: Universities have the flexibility to integrate TestAS into their admission procedures, either as an optional or mandatory criterion.
  • Use in student counselling: TestAS's results are particularly useful for student counselling services, enabling them to provide targeted support to prospective students.

We will be happy to advise you individually on the use of TestAS at your university.
