Alternative access to Higher Education

Fair and objective selection of international applicants with TestAS

In several federal states, such as Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia, egal  frameworks have been established to allow alternative pathways into higher education. This development opens up new opportunities, especially for international applicants.

The German Rectors' Conference (HRK) recommends the TestAS study aptitude test for fair and accurate selection. The TestAS, which was developed specifically for admission to undergraduate programmes in Germany, reliably measures study aptitude. It consists of a core module and a subject-specific module, enabling well-founded decisions to be made in subject-related selection and admission procedures.

Benefits of TestAS for universities

  • Objective comparability: TestAS allows universities to directly compare and assess the academic abilities of prospective students, irrespective of differences in educational systems.
  • Quality assurance: By using TestAS, universities can enhance the selection of suitable candidates and thereby improve the overall quality of their student intake.
  • Reduction in dropout rates: The targeted selection of qualified applicants helps to reduce dropout rates and increase academic success.
  • Prediction of academic performance: TestAS serve as a strong indicator of future academic performance.
  • Flexibility in the admission procedure: Universities have the flexibility to integrate TestAS into their admission procedures, either as an optional or mandatory criterion.
  • Support in student counselling: TestAS's results are particularly useful for student counselling services, enabling them to provide tailored guidance to prospective students.

We will be happy to advise you individually on the use of TestAS at your university.
